Nicolas Clement

Known for being the youngest trainer ever to win the prestigious Prix Arc de Triomphe, Nicolas Clement has been among of the leading trainers in France for over thirty years. He has had a highly successful career to date with over 1.000 winners, including 36 Group victories in France and abroad

Nicolas is no stranger to the world of horse racing as his father, Miguel, was a leading trainer in France, most notably having won the French Derby with NELCIUS. This meant Nicolas was raised in the business, exercising horses for his father from a young age. His brother, Christophe, is also a successful trainer in America.

Before taking his own license in 1988, Nicolas worked as a pupil assistant to John Gosden in California and Dr M.V O’Brien in Ireland. He then returned to France, where he he was the main assistant to Mr Francois Boutin.

Nicolas is fluent in English and is comfortable in Spanish, which is a great asset as his owners are located all around the globe. He always ensures that they are well informed, with photographs and regular telephone and email updates, and he also encourages them to visit the yard and watch their horses on the gallops.

The Yard

Our yard is peaceful and quiet with bright, airy boxes bordering open lawns. We also have two walkers and a turn out pen for horses on easy work. Apartments for the lads above the stables and Nicolas’ house at the top of the yard provide a constant eye over all of our horses. We also have our own horsebox to transport our horses easily to and from meetings with minimum stress to them and greatly reducing the risk of spreading diseases between horses.
